  1. Sieve flour, baking powder, baking soda and cocoa powder thrice and keep aside. Preheat oven to 180-degrees and grease a cake tin. Take one cup chilled milk add vinegar to it and keep aside for 5 mins.
  2. In a big bowl add sugar, oil whisk until sugar dissolves. Add milk-vinegar mixture and whisk. Add flour mixture in 2-3 batches. Mix using cut and fold method. Add more milk if needed.
  3. Add a hand full of choco chips and mix. Pour it into a greased cake tin. Tap well and bake till done. After 10 mins de-mold the cake. Let the cake cool down properly. Cover the cake with cling wrap put in the freeze for 3-4 hrs or overnight.
  4. For icing: Take out the cake from the freeze. And unwrap. Cut the cake into 2 or 3 layers. Take one layer sprinkle 2-3 tsp sugar syrup/cherry juice on it adds whipping cream spread evenly.
  5. Spread chopped cherries. And cover with another cake layer. Again pour some sugar syrup or cherry juice on cake sponge. Put some whipping cream, spread evenly.
  6. Cover all the sides of cake properly with whipping cream. Take some chocolate shavings cover the sides. Make desired design in sides.
  7. In a piping bag put star nozzle and whipping cream. Make design on cake and Put whole cherries on cake. Add chocolate shavings in middle. Make a big rose in middle add a cherry. Black forest cake is ready.

I used fat free condensed milk and found the Sunsweet oil substitute on the same shelf as corn starch and baking powder at the store. Black Forest Cake is Brad's favourite but I have never made it for him. Unfortunately for him, I never cared for it much and mostly for good reasons-the artificial taste of chocolate layers and the electric red of maraschino cherries never appealed to my European taste.
