To begin with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few components. You can have sweet and savory grilled cheese(s) using 11 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Sweet and Savory Grilled Cheese(s):
  1. Take 4 slice Multigrain bread
  2. Get 2 slice Muenster cheese
  3. Get 1 slice American cheese
  4. Make ready 1 slice Sharp aged cheddar cheese
  5. Take 1/2 Avocado
  6. Take 4 Chunks of pineapple
  7. Get 2 tsp Fresh pico de gallo
  8. Get 2 pinch Bacon bits
  9. Take 2 slice Tomato
  10. Get 2 tbsp Apple hot pepper jelly (local market purchase)
  11. Make ready 3 slice Butter or margarine

Since then I've made countless variations of grilled cheese. Well, imagine how indulgent these grilled cheese sandwiches, stuffed with thinly sliced steak and extra cheese, are! Two types of cheese are added: Gruyere and American. The crispy sandwiches are topped with the perfect runny eggs that drip all over the cheesy goodness hidden inside.

Steps to make Sweet and Savory Grilled Cheese(s):
  1. Put large frying pan on stove on low heat, spread butter around pan as it melts.
  2. There are two grilled cheeses in this recipe. For the first, place one slice of muenster on the bread, then 4 thinly sliced chunks of pineapple. Follow this with the slice of American, then slices from half an avocado, plus the fresh pico de gallo (I purchased this from a local market but it is very easy to make your own!), followed by the last slice of muenster, and the other slice of bread.
  3. For the second grilled cheese, add the sharply aged cheddar slices (they are difficult to cut into slices so they may come out to be more like chunks), the bacon bits, tomato slices, and the apple hot pepper jelly (another local market purchase, but made from all natural ingredients). Place the second slice of bread on top.
  4. Use a spatula to flip and press the grilled cheese until it is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Put the grilled cheeses on a plate, cut in half, and enjoy! (You'll tell yourself you won't eat them both in one sitting, but you will.)

We can't think of a better "grilled cheese", and hands down, this is our favorite one. I typically make savory grilled cheese sandwiches, but this sweet & savory one is so good and a great twist to change it up! The pumpkin flavor comes in by drizzling on some of my Pumpkin Butter, the sour green apples pair perfectly with the sweetness, and the cheese slices. This was good but I only used half of the brown sugar that the recipe called for muenster and cheddar cheeses with medium salsa as a dipping sauce for the sandwich so I'd have sweet and spicy. Instead, combine your sweet and savory favorites into one epic dish: the apple pie grilled cheese.
